Move over Tinkerbell and Bit Bit. . . . .
Chihuahuas (even those belonging to Paris Hilton and Britney
Spears) are so-oo yesterday.
The new dog de jour is the pug. The snorting,
wrinkly-faced pooches are being toted around by the likes of Jessica
Alba, Tori Spelling, Jenna Elfman, Paula
Abdul, Billy Joel, Mickey Rourke, and
fashionistas Valentino and Tommy Hilfiger, to
name a few. Pugs
are said to be very jolie-laide, a French term for a
woman who is oddly attractive though not conventionally
beautiful. But we
attribute the breed’s popularity to another reason –anyone
can look instantly svelte standing next to these stubby little
mutts.
Best In Show (Business)
– Soulful crooner Joss Stone was chosen as “best
dog owner” in an online poll conducted by New York Dog
and Hollywood Dog magazines, narrowly edging out Ashley
Olsen. The
world’s worst dog owner? The aforementioned Paris Hilton,
whose “dog-parenting skills left a lot to be desired in the
minds of our readers,” according to editor Leslie Padgett.
First For Felines

Yours Truly casts her vote for Halle Berry.
Her kitties dine on Boquerones, a rare variety of white
anchovy that costs nearly $25 a pound.
Maybe it’s because she’s the original Cat-Woman,
but Halle knows that we felines will take a gourmet meal over
ridiculous so-called luxuries like diamond collars and Vuitton
bags any day!
A Dlog?? –
You read that right. A source tells us that Hilary
Duff’s Chihuahua Lola has launched her own “dog
blog” on the singer/actress’s official website.
Supposedly, Lola’s first post was an endorsement of a
dog-care book written by her Maltese playmate’s owner.
Being the frugal feline we are, we’ll take our
source’s word, since Lola’s blog is located on a section
of the website that’s open only to members of Duff’s fan
club, which costs $30 to join.
Who Needs Brad – er Vince – . . . when you’ve got Norm. Jennifer Aniston’s favorite actor beau these days is a scruffy pooch named Norman. She got the corgi-terrier mix from the animal trainers on Friends. “He was an actor dog,” she says, “but he was so lazy that he had a terrible reputation. He wouldn’t hit his mark.” Jen has been spotted with Norm everywhere – romping on the beach near her Malibu mansion, on film locations, and even on her recent appearance on The View. Any doubts this relationship’s for keeps? Ellen DeGeneres called off her deal to buy Jen and Brad Pitt’s former home, because Jen wouldn’t throw in Norm as part of the package.
