Let's Get Catty...     Gossip, Gossip, Gossip!

Gimme More  . . .Pets!

Fresh off the release of her new CD, Britney Spears was spotted by paparazzi shopping with her Yorkie pup “London” at a West Hollywood pet store. But London wasn’t the only pet Britney left the shop with. The pop star also had a bag of goldfish and a new parakeet in tow. No word yet on how the bird and fish feel about their newfound fame, though their first taste came almost instantly.  The paparazzi were so out of control that Brit had to be escorted out of the parking lot.

 Tail-ing Along

Carrie Underwood was seen out on a date with Chance Crawford of Gossip Girl, but the two weren’t alone. The former American Idol brought her dog “Ace” along with her!  If Crawford’s a little jealous of the pooch, it’s understandable. Before she was ever “Idolized,” Carrie worked at a vet clinic to help pay the bills of her pets, dog “Molly” and cats “Maxi” and “Mason.” Even more threatening to Crawford: “More Boys I Meet,” a song on Underwood’s Carnival Ride, includes the repeated lyric, “the more boys I meet, the more I love my dog.”

Political Wags

It’s too early to say who will win the next presidential election. But, dah-lings, I can tell you who’s leading the pack when it comes to pet-friendly households.  Senator John McCain boasts a menagerie of two dogs, two turtles, a cat, a ferret, a parakeet and 13 saltwater fish, putting him way ahead candidates in both parties in the number – and diversity – of pets.  Fellow Republican Rudy Giuliani doesn’t have any pets at all, nor does Mitt Romney, having recently lost a dog.  Pet-less as well, on the Democratic side, is Barack Obama. Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Edwards, and Dennis Kucinich all have dogs, while Joe Biden and Bill Richardson – smart men! --share their homes with cats.

Envious Sharpay?

Ashley Tisdale’s new pint-sized pooch “Maui” has been seen everywhere with her – LAX Airport, a New York City tour bus, a Hollywood luncheon, even an appearance on the CBS Early Show. Small enough to be carried in one hand, Maui is the new sibling of Ashely’s larger maltipoo “Blondie,” who normally resides in a stylish Louis Vuitton carrier. Perhaps the High School Musical star was envious of director Kenny Ortega’s petite pup “Manly.” In the most recent HSM, Manly played the role of “Boi,” the stylish pet of Sharpay, which is not to be confused with the Shar-Pei breed of dog, but is rather, the HSM character that just so happened to be played by Tisdale herself.

Hairy Heir

Who’s the most eligible canine bachelor these days?  Without a doubt, it’s “Trouble,” the Maltese who belonged to the late Leona Helmsley.  The lucky pooch just inherited a $12,000,000 (yes, that’s six 0’s) trust fund from his hotel-mogul owner, who completely disinherited two of her “human” grandchildren.  Trouble certainly won’t have any trouble getting dates!  Almost makes Yours Truly wish she was – dare I say it – a dog  . .. .
